American Military Executes Deadly Strike in Pacific, Leading to 4 Deaths

As stated by a high-ranking military spokesperson, the US military executed a lethal strike on a boat in the eastern Pacific, killing four individuals.

“Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a deadly attack on a craft linked to a terrorist group in international waters. Surveillance confirmed the vessel was transiting along a established drug smuggling route and was involved in illicit drug transport. A total of four male narco-terrorists were killed, and no US military forces were harmed.”

Background and Prior Actions

This announcement comes a day after a declaration regarding a naval blockade of all targeted oil tankers to and from Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund drug trafficking and other crimes, vowing to increase the military buildup.

Just on Tuesday, US defense officials stated it had carried out strikes on three boats suspected of smuggling narcotics in the Pacific, killing eight people. Since 2 September, more than 20 strikes have killed at least 99 people, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Defends Actions Amid Pressure

The administration has faced growing pressure to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. However, officials have refused to do so. The administration has supported its efforts as a success, saying it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is stretching the limits of lawful warfare.

While the administration has stated the campaign is about halting drugs destined for the US, comments from a senior aide appeared to suggest a wider political objective. In a recently published interview, the senior advisor remarked the leader “aims to keep on blowing boats up until Venezuela's president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the military campaign may be linked to a strategy to oust Venezuela's current leadership.
