Three In Contention for Young Sports Personality Honour

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

These three athletes have been honoured for their exceptional achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The event will be broadcast from seven in the evening GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score crucial late equalisers in both the last eight and last four matches.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the best young player in Europe.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"To be named a finalist for this award is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

He didn't stop there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
